The Oakwood Schools Foundation (OSF) announced the results of its fall grant cycle at the October Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 12. Seven grants totaling over $13,000 were funded with support  from OSF, The Oakwood Fine Arts Boosters, the Junior and High School PTO and a generous anonymous donor.

Grants supported this cycle include adaptable bikes for special education programing, a large new selection of books for second graders, audio books for the Smith Elementary library, support for Science Olympiad, Random Acts of Kindness Etcetera initiatives at the high school, and an improved spotlight for the auditorium.

Grants and Programs Trustee Jason Wardell represented the Foundation at the Monday night meeting and expressed deep gratitude for the Oakwood community’s support and annual contributions which enable the Foundation to oversee the twice-annual collaborative grants process and provide financial support for its mission-driven programs.

OSF’s grants program is designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize, and reward innovative and creative instructional programs and ideas in education. Teachers, principals, and school administrators may apply for grants to fund projects that benefit individual classrooms or programs. Through the grants program, the Foundation has given over $1 million to the Schools since the program began 1991.
